Description for Protein PPA1

pyrophosphatase (inorganic) 1
8 total interacting proteins; 3 platelet interacting proteins
Icon Book Platelet Evidence (proteome studies/others : 2/1)
(platelet: 2; secretome: 1; undefined: 1)
Summary:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPase) family. PPases catalyze the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate to inorganic phosphate, which is important for the phosphate metabolism of cells. Studies of a similar protein in bovine suggested a cytoplasmic localization of this enzyme. [provided by RefSeq] (PubMed Links)
